GPT-5

OpenAI's flagship fifth-generation language model, released August 2025. GPT-5 is a unified hybrid system with a real-time router that dynamically selects between a fast model for simple queries and a deeper reasoning model for complex problems. It set new state-of-the-art benchmarks at launch: 94.6% on AIME 2025 (math without tools), 74.9% on SWE-bench Verified (coding), 84.2% on MMMU (multimodal understanding), and 88.4% GPQA with GPT-5 Pro. Responses are 45% less likely to contain factual errors than GPT-4o with web search, and 80% less likely with thinking mode vs o3. GPT-5 performs better than o3 with 50-80% fewer output tokens. The model family includes GPT-5, GPT-5 Mini, GPT-5 Nano, and GPT-5 Pro variants.
